There has been a steady increase in the ownership of crossbows over the last 45 years.
In fact, there were originally only 2 states that allowed the use of crossbows during the regular archery deer hunting season, back in 1980’s.
Nowadays it’s some 20 states who have allowed the use of crossbows and consider them to be legitimate archery equipment and yet another 4 states who ‘approve‘ the crossbow for deer hunting under special license.
A crossbow is also considered legal during the ‘firearms season’ in 13 states and 15 states are now allowing the use of the crossbow for all legal game hunting during the season.
It is expected that more states will also follow this lead and make the crossbow a legitimate accomplice to all archery equipment.
There is now a bigger choice of hunting crossbows than ever before – many new manufacturers are getting in on the act and producing some excellent equipment.
Modern industrial technology and high tech materials have, at last, reached the crossbow fraternity, which, in turn has led to a vast improvement in accuracy and performance – computer aided design and precision laser cut materials are now able to give us some of the best crossbows we have ever seen – lighter, more dependable and more accurate – todays hunting crossbows are a work of modern technological art.
A crossbow has always been a precision instrument and has always come with a fairly hefty price tag for a good high range bow, but with this bit of survival equipment, you only really get what you pay for – it pretty much goes without saying, a cheap bow will only let you down.
In this guide I am showing an overview of the best crossbows for sale, but with different characteristics – from bolt velocity, through draw weight to price and more – these are for what I consider to be some of the top crossbows for survival.
